The big chase

The Chase!!!!

It started as a lovely and wonderful day. The autumn leaves were flying down from the huge and tall tree above me. I came out of my little hole in the big oak tree, searching for some big and tasty nuts to eat. As I was eating my nut, I felt I was being spied on and when I was looking around, the leaf strewn forest I was right ! I was been spied on this whole time, so I knew that my day would be bad.

When I looked around I saw this BIG bird and his eyes looked like fear and his wings were spread and I knew that he was looking for lunch!

When the bird was on the tall tree he started to fly as fast as he could and  I ran like the wind. I jumped and I hopped and I ran and I took pride in myself. I was running as fast as I could when I had to climbed this big tree, I felt that I was rock climbing.

When I reach the top I found this drey and I SUPERPOWER, jumped into the nest and I thought I had lost him.

I took a big ,huge breath in and out two times and sat in the nest for five seconds

panting hard!  And then I felt this BIG shake. I was holding on so tight and then the Big bird shook the drey harder. I felt that I was in a pool of leaves and sticks. I felt pressure because of the danger I am having.

Then I fell from the dry through the air onto the piled up sticks and leaves on the forest floor. I thought that he was done and he had given up but he was not finished with me. He launched himself off the dry and started to fly. I ran faster than four children in a cross country race.

I ran up a big tree and I saw this branch. I had to get across this space to a tree on the other side. I believed myself and I jumped like a kangaroo all the way to the other side. When I was at the other side I felt that I was brave but when I looked back he was still flying after me!  Left and right, up and down, around and around, darting and dodging,the bird flew  up, down and around as I jumped up and around.

When I saw my little hole with my big and tasty nut store inside  I raced to it and I was trying to get inside,but I was too big and then I pressed hard and I fell into my small hole with my nut inside I saw the BIG bird coming closer and then I hid screwed up as tight as a ball so he could not see me. Then I opened one eye and I saw his shiny and sharp claws on the edge of my little hole. He shook it like he was the big bad wolf and then after he shook it about five times he gave up, and  flew away tired and angry and disappointed also hungry.

I rolled back so I was a squirrel again and when I looked out of my little hole I saw that Big bird was flying away and I had BIG day!

I was so lucky not to be the bird’s lunch.  

Next time I have to be more careful where I eat.
