Learning pattens in maths

Malo Ni,this week haves been a very busy but I hope that I done enough to tell you,I will be sharing with you about what we learnt in problem solving.  So we had to write a table out and then we thought to add five because it would take to long and what if you had to add up to 100 but then we realize that we had to times 5 and plus 1 because we had to,then we had to test out,because we had to remember to test it out because if we don't we might not have a rule, so we did and it work and this can help you to get the rule in other patten it only changes with the numbers . Steps to leading you to a positive footprint

Kia ora everyone,welcome to term 4 and the last term of the school year.This week James came to help us to keep our digital footprint happy. He had told us that we had to work on drawing,and padlet. The padlet was all about people that are positive, witch was fun because we got to write negative comments and positive comments about them. So next he ask us to look up our first name and last name, and a few people had pictures of them that they didn't know that were up there,and I have three pictures that I didn't know that was on line where everyone could see. Then we had to write some steps/tips that other people can follow to get a positive digital footprint. I hope you have a positive footprint and if you need help please read my drawing to get some ideas of an positive footprint.

Earthquake!

Hello,Good day,Talofa lava and more greetings, I have been learning about earthquakes,because Thursday we had the shake out drill when all Auckland had to do the earthquakes drill witch we had to do in a cause of an earthquake,we had to drop,cover and hold.Mrs Moore(Our teacher)But us on a task to do and We had to answer questions like:
What is an earthquakes
What does an earthquakes cause/do.
What is an earthquake drill/and why we do it.

Reycleing tips

Good day everyone, Its Ivorn here, last week we went to this recycling station called Visy. We went to explore how they make rubbish it to cubes and how it travels in the big machines and where they dumbed the rubbish and how rules about what we have to do when we recycling  or put rubbish in a the bin. Here are some of the facts and things and rules that you need to know when the nest time you have to put rubbish in your bins. I hope you make the right choice.

Maths with Bina

Problem solving 

Wow it was hard solving this problem today with Bina but not that hard so I'll tell you what happened:

Where do I start oh yeah we had a visitor today and she was here to help us improve in Maths. So we had a big,hard problem(not that hard) that we had solve together. So this problem involves toothpicks and 9 squares and pattern. First we had to solve it by ourselves and that was very hard to work by yourself,        but I knew not to give up. How many toothpicks to make 9 squares,well in each square had 4 toothpicks,and there are 9 squares but it's to hard,wait...

(Light bulb) Wait I know, if there is 9 squares and there are 4 toothpicks in each squares,by using my times I could do 9x4=36. Then we had to go into groups of 3 and we had to ask our team mates what we did and how we work it out.  In our group we had Ezekiel,Maxine and me(Ivorn). Then Bina said that we had to  get some ice block sticks and show what we did in our maths books and show them on the ice blocks sticks.

 It was hard but then we realize that we have done it all wrong,(booboo) we thought that it was 9 X 4 = 36 but then we realize ,that it was 3 X 9 = 27 + 1 = 28,because in each square has 3 toothpicks,and there are 9 squares so that means that 3 X 9 = 27 + 1 = 28.

 Wow in didn't know that it was going to be that hard but I kept on going. I learnt a lot in this problem like learning my times tables and what pattens mean and adding. I hope you have learnt something and you try this one day.

Fun run

Aloha everyone, its Ivorn here with some happy news, on Friday we had our cross country fun run competition with the whole school. Are you tired? On Friday we got prepared to run. First the juniors ran first and my sister came second,wow that was very shocking. Then it was the two laps and I was one of them and the girls had a plan to beat the boys and then at the end we beat each other. We ran as fast as we can in the beginning then when it came to flat parts of the run wow they were slow as a snail. But when I ran I thought about all the people that I know and my Papa,Nana and my cousin Neal, I tried not to to give up. I didn't come a place but by the way I tried my best and run hard, and I am very proud of myself. When it ended everyone was tried and others were crying and happy.

Speech

Good morning,wow it was scary getting up in front of the class maybe I might do this for living. Two weeks ago we have been doing speeches  for the whole week. All the students in our class had to write a speech so they can show it in front of the class. First I made it to the class finals and I had to do my speech again and I had to make so more changes to my speech so it can be better if I want to be in the school finals. Then I made it though that round and made it in the school finals. Then I showed my speech to half of the school and that was very scary to get in front of half the school,I was shaking but I tried to keep still, I kept positive and slime and used a lot of body language,and use some of the writing texture we used. Then We waited for the judges to make up they minds because they were 14 students in the school doing they speeches. Then they said... In 3 place equal came Maasoama and Fauipu. In second place came Hermione,and in first place came... Ivorn. YEAH I was so proud of myself because all of my hard work paid off.
  Next Wednesday we are going to another speech finals. We will be participating in this event. Wish us luck!

What I have learnt in Maths this term

Maths

Earlier this term we have been learning about calculating the volume of a shape called  rectangular prism. We have been using mulcted cubes to calculate the volume. We have been looking at the length, width and the height.

So now we had to found out the volume of these boxes. First we had to guess which boxes will hold the less and most one cm cubes.

We spilt in to groups of three and work out the volume of a boxes. We used our knowledge from the past to calculate the volume of these boxes.

This is one of the boxes that my group had to calculate, this was the smallest box out of the other boxes. We had to use rule to measurer this box. We found out the volume of this boxes it was a small volume.

 These are the volumes of all of the boxes. Did you know the "F" box and the "H" boxes was 44 differentness, that was close.

Well this is all I have learnt in maths.

Letter to Snow White

Today Mrs Moore was reading us Snow White and the 7 dwarfs. We were reading Snow white because it was book week. Our amazing librarian Andera plan games and more. Where was I oh yeah after we read Mrs Moore told us to write a letter to Snow white about the silly things she had do in the story. I was Snow White sister. I was nice to be someone else for one morning. Well this is my story:

Dear Snow White,

It’s your sister here I just wanted to say WHY WOULD YOU LET A STRANGER INSIDE THE HOUSE,have you learnt anything from our childhood man! Why would you want to eat a apple from a stranger. Remember the day our mother told us to not  be RUDE. Why can’t you wait until the dwarfs come home and you could eat the pie with them you are just RUDE!!!!! I am going to tell MOTHER! I wish I was there I would.... If mother was there she would get the brush and give you a big hit. Why did you let a scary and ugly old lady into the house MAN HAVE YOU GONE CRAZY!! And also I got three questions, number one when the prince kissed you was it a perfect kiss or… Number two Did you know that you were in danger?  Number three did you know that the queen or your mother had a mirror and one more question did you have a fairy godmother? If you had one how come I don’t have one? Dear I hope you have learnt what you have done. And I also want to say something before I go I hope you have learnt from mistakes remember what mother said Making mistakes is good because you learn from them and one more thing have you learnt your mistake. Using speech recognition

Today James came to share a tool called speech recognition on a google document . I used this wonderful tool on Mary's blog.

This tool is really useful when a person comes from overseas. It is really fun because you get to talk to your chromebook like it is stupid but it is not stupid it is clever.

Samoan language week

Last Friday we had Samoan language week. All around the world people celebrate their language. It's like a birthday. We had all the Samoan children even the the little kids dance and sing at assembly. It was wonderful.

Next the tane performed a Samoan dance. It's all about getting your body into it and remembering the actions.

After that amazing dance two of our leaders performed they own Samoan haka. This is Presly and Faiupu

After the boys haka the little children had a wonderful song and dance.

All the Samoan boys did a haka. They had two callers. They all shouted and made heaps and heaps of noise That was a  wonderful,amazing and also fun assembly .

Jump rope for heart

Are you tired? I am because just yesterday we had jump rope for heart. I was so happy and nervous at the same time. I was so great to see everybody trying their best and they didn't give up. If you are wondering why we did this well this is why ? Well we did this because we were fundraising for the heart foundation. We were helping those people whos hearts are not working well.

One of the things that we did on Thursday was skipping by yourself. It was very hard to focused on skipping because it was the was the sun it was in your eyes. It was AMAZING that one person had 148 skipping without tripping out. And that person that skipped 148 was Fardosa.

Also the other skipping thing was peer skipping. It was really,really,really hard to do peer skipping because, when ever you skip and then you stop the skipping rope hits you back. IT REALLY HURT!!!!

I remembered that the other fun actives was skipping with the halo hops. I was fun skipping with some other experiment. It was hard and challenge to skip with the halo hips because something when you skip it falls apart. But by the way it was fun.

At the end of the day we were tired but we were proud and happy. Even though it was hot and sunny just try our best!

Tennis Term 2

This term we have been learning to improve our tennis skills. We learnt how to pick up the racket by making a L.

 We learnt how to keep the ball in the sweet spot. The sweet spot is the center of the racket. We have to make use that the ball is in the sweet spot so we can hit the ball in the right direction.

Now we are outside practice  this skill called sandwith and hitting in the right direction. It was very hard to hit the ball in the right direction because of the wind.

On the last day we got to have a race with a friend. My one was Mary she was good. We had fun but at the same time it was our last day.

Welcome to 2015

 Hey guys this is Ivorn here and welcome to 2015. This year I have a new class and a new teacher called Mrs Moore and I am so happy and grateful that I an her class this year.
